Find out what you need to enter the UAE
When visiting any country it is a good idea to find out entry and exit requirements prior to your scheduled departure. Each country differs in these respects. While most ports of entry are a breeze, there are a few exceptions.
When planning a trip to the United Arab Emirates, its important to check with the local consulate for tourist visa requirements.
Depending on your citizenship, obtaining this tourist visa can be rather simple, but there are a couple exceptions that demand some preparation. Here are some guidelines to help you plan your trip and make your travel to this beautiful country as easy and hassle-free as possible.
USA citizens: If traveling into the UAE, all you need is a valid passport. Upon arrival you will be given a 30 day visit visa. For those wanting to stay longer, you can obtain a 30 day extension, but this needs to be done prior to arrival into the country. For more details, check with the local consulate.
Canadian citizens: For entry into the UAE, a passport that is valid for at least six months after date of entry is required. Also, Canadian citizens must obtain their tourist visa prior to entering the country. This applies whether you are traveling for business or pleasure.
Australia and New Zealand: Entry requirements into the UAE is basically the same as it is for US citizens. A valid passport is of course necessary and upon arrival at the airport, you will be issued a visit visa that is valid for 30 days.
UK citizens: British citizens need a passport (again be sure its valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry). Once again, a 30 day tourist visa will be issued upon arrival. For stays lasting longer than 30 day, an extension visa has to be obtained prior to travel.
South Africa: Any South African citizen must have a 30 day visit visa prior to arrival to the UAE. Documents and tickets detailing your date of exit must also be presented once you enter the country. Extensions are not permitted and you must have a sponsor already in the UAE waiting for you at the airport. For details and other requirements for entry/exit visit or contact the UAE consulate.
Be sure to keep your experience a good one by checking what is required for tourists to visit the UAE. The countries listed have government sponsored websites that detail what is necessary. Cultural and religious customs dictate many of the rules and regulations within the UAE. Certain lifestyles are prohibited and those with certain illness can be denied entry. It is advised that you take the time to look into these to be sure your trip goes smoothly.
