Abu Dhabi’s 7 Star Hotel
Emirates Palace Hotel is an opulent lavish luxury spot in Abu Dhabi. It is considered to be one of the few 7 star hotels in the world (The Burj Al Arab in Dubai is also a 7 star). It is rumored to be one of the most expensive hotels ever built. There are over 1000 chandeliers!
In 2010 they showcased the world`s most expensive Christmas tree (US $11 million). It was 13 meters tall (43 feet) and was decorated with diamond, pearl and emerald jewellery. They are also famous for offering a 1 million dollar Valentine`s package (don`t let your significant other find out about that one-or your flowers just won`t cut it next year!).

Non guests are usually welcome to tour the public areas (not the guest floors, swimming pool area or beach). You can enjoy the decadent lobby and some of the lovely landscaped grounds. The lobby is marble and has beautiful decorated gold domes. There are often free exhibits and some beautiful antiques to check out.
If you would like to splurge and stay a night or two at this hotel, the room rates start at $400 US (low season) a night up to $12,000 for the Palace Grand Suite!
There are often free art exhibits being held in the hotel which can be quite interesting and are usually culturally related. This are held near the al Majalis Coffee Bar.
For a true Emirates Palace Hotel experience, you can have afternoon high tea at Al Majlis. This is a beautiful restaurant where you can dine in style! Enjoy the Traditional Afternoon High Tea with English tea sandwiches, crumpets, jam and Devonshire cream and various tasty cakes. Or for a more local flavor enjoy the Emirates Palace Afternoon Tea with date scones, pistachio clotted cream and Arabic sweets with some 24 carat chocolate mousse! Starting at AED 225. Open 2pm-6pm. Reservations recommended.
Stop by Le Cafe & Caviar Bar for a decadent cappuccino topped with gold flakes or a sweet chocolate dessert drizzled with gold! With the record prices of gold you might want to stop by the gold vending machine in the lobby. This gold plated dispensing machine offers gold bars of various sizes and even an Emirates Palace stamped gold coin. A gold ingots atm- what a great souvenir! The machine updates every 10 minutes to reflect the price based on the current market rates! There is often a live harp player or violin quartet playing at the back of the lobby area.
The lavish gardens at the front of the hotel can be explored and are a great photo opportunity. It is the location for many of the big name concerts that visit Abu Dhabi so check out the hotel’s events page to see if anything interesting is on while you are visiting! They are run by Kempinski Hotels who also runs the hotel at Emirates Mall in Dubai where you can find Ski Dubai.
Your Abu Dhabi Guides Tips
- Be sure to dress modestly (no shorts, short skirts or sleeveless tops). You can don your fanciest outfits if you please (because really when else will you be visiting a 7 star hotel again?) or business casual attire is appropriate too (no jeans etc!).
- Avoid Fridays and anytime there is a government or big conference as you may be refused entry if you don`t have a reservation for afternoon tea or a meal.
- You are welcome to take photos of the hotel-just be sure to ask permission if you would like to take someone`s photograph!
